My favorite picture of Maisie.  It NEVER fails to make me laugh.

sheep! magazine is holding a contest for Best Bottle Lamb stories!

"Think about the most pampered, spoiled, obnoxious, loved bottle lamb you have ever had - or heard about.  ("Cute" counts too.)  Write about all this and send your reflections and ruminations to Poor Will.  The most ridiculous (true) story will win its author a $10.00 prize, but everyone whose tale appears in sheep! will receive a $2.00 royalty!"

Can't pass that up!  Pampered, check.  Spoiled, check.  Obnoxious, check.  Loved, CHECK.

I'm trying to think of some of our best bottle lamb stories.  Lila being "litter trained" is an obvious choice.  Maisie going to (and leaving :-o) church...for sure.  Blossom and her cot...definitely falls under spoiled ;-).

What are some of your favorite Equinox Farm bottle lamb stories?  A good way to jog your memory is to click on each sheep's "label" on the right hand side of the blog and scroll back.

Leave a comment and not only will it be fun to remember some of the crazy antics that I may have tried to put out of my mind forgotten, but I also have a Lamb Camp giveaway surprise.  I'll leave it open through Friday and draw a random winner that evening.

I have way too many favorite Equinox Farm bottle lamb stories - but I do really love the Betsy/bottle lamb stories. They are my favorite-est. (That picture of Maisie is my favorite, too - you can't lose with teefers.)

Oh the one of Maisie in church is the best.

Is there a Maisie story that *wouldn't* fit those criteria?? :-) I think I like the pictures of Keebler and Graham Lamb as lambies best, though.

One of my favorites:)

It isn't a specific single story, but Maisie's large selection of coats always made me smile. She was such a well dressed lambie-how many other lambs have a cape?

Maisie's stories are just amazing, the church one is great and all her baby pictures are so sweet.

Maisie!!! We all love ALL the bottle lambies. They all have adorable/hysterical stories....but Maisie has that and also overcame such adversity, so many times... to LIVE!!! L'chaim!! (I just re-watched 'Fiddler' on KET last weekend :-) )

That's like choosing a favorite child! I love them all!

Since Maisie is the first bottle lamb I know around your farm I choose her. One of my all time favorite posts was the one you posted a video of her jumping around. After a rough start I remember I couldn't believe all the strength she had!

Okay I did more research I know the church will win, but I love the post "Super Maisie" when she is running wearing a cape! Oh and the video was The Amazing Maisie! Okay I'm going to knit now.

I agree that the Maisie church story is the best. I do love that photo.

Maisie under/looking at the Christmas tree is my favorite. And yes, there are so many great ones! So many! Any one with Betsy and Maisie. Then you did those of Graham lambie... Like I said... So Many! :-D

Baaxter - adventures in babysitting on 6/10 -- COWABUNGA! I still laugh when I see that photo. What a funny little guy.

Was that Maisie in that video walking with you walking / prancing down the gravel road.... kicking with her feet up in the air and bouncing left and right?! :-)

I loved that video. And then Maisie the superbaby in her red cape. And the 3-lb Maise in your lap in the car when you first got her. And Maisie, the propeller girl. And Maisie... you get what I mean:-).

Instead of writing it all down, you should put together a collage of pictures and let them narrate her story.

She sure is a miracle sheep. Love, Maisie!πŸ’œπŸ’›❤️πŸ’šπŸ‘

OK, so I'm fairly new to this whole fiber thing and didn't 'meet' Maisie until she was grown. I just went back and read the entire Maisie bottle baby stage of the blog. Oh MY! And to think that when I met her in person, I said something along the lines of, "She wasn't a bottle baby, was she?" because of her, ahem, plus size :-) She is such a big, beautiful, happy girl now with her cute waggy tail. Sorry buddy Baaxter, but I think Maisie wins this one. Oh, and Betsy rocks! Meow and baaaah.

Somewhere archived is a photo of Maisie in her cage/crate under the heat lamp with Betsy there to keep her warm and watch over her. "It takes and village" comes to mind when I think of all who contributed to her wardrobe, food nutrients, general health, and respite care so that she could be the adorable sheep she is today. That's what makes bottle lambs so special.... that it takes so many people to do what Mother Nature could not do by herself. Kudos to all those involved in making Maisie the character she is today.

Impossible to choose when there have been so many! Don't make me please.....

It is a tough choice but I vote for Maisie. Her friendship with Betsy and Hank, her propeller tail, her wardrobe when she was little, all combine to make her extra special. I also love the teefers picture and that next picture in the 12/17/12 post, where she is standing next to Peabody. Although all your critters are winners in my book!!

All the bottle babies are special and well-loved but I'd have to vote for Maisie due to the sheer amount of effort expended keeping her alive! From being a preemie, to needing only goat milk, to needing clothes, etc...all the way through the Baling Twine Scare... She really takes the cake, er, Cheerios.

Susan said...

OHHHH, don't even mention B. Twine :) Since I only know Maisie as a bottle lambie (well, there is Baaxter)she definitely has my vote!
I like the idea of a collage of pics. You WILL win.

Its Baaxter all the way for me. From the moment he arrived he has totally captivated my heart. I actually originally thought his name should be Zorro but naming him after my favorite poet and large animal veterinarian was totally prescient -- he the poet laureate of lambies! I live for my daily Baaxter updates. Thank you. Thank you.
