The Perfect Video...Well Almost

If I'd just thought to Turn The Camera Sideways...

I've been posting some Instagram pictures and videos of the new girls out in the yard over the last couple of days.  Yesterday I missed several opportunities to take Cat Sniffing pics of Eli (yes, surprisingly out of his condo) and Comby, but did catch a picture of them chasing Betsy up onto the fence.

This morning I missed them checking out Claire Bear, Comby and Eli (it was over 50 degrees ;-), but did catch this with Betsy. Once it was done I realized I'd taken  "the perfect country and western sheep song video".  We've got cute sheep, Betsy, Eli, Cat Sniffing, sun, Kate, Kate working, Tilly, Tilly "helping", sunshine, sheep sproinging, did I mention the sun is shining?

It was a bit too long for Instagram, so here is a YouTube version.

I was going to say leave a comment with your favorite part of this video and we'd have 20 draw a winner for one of the leftover calendars, but I've gotten several emails in the last 24 hours telling me that the comments aren't working right.  Not sure what is up with that.  Hoping just a temporary blogger issue as I don't have time to try to dig through that right now :-/.

So, TRY to leave a comment (and if it doesn't work, just shoot me an email, but try the comments option first).  If you already have a calendar, let me know and I'll find something else you might like :-).  If you don't win and don't have a 2017 calendar yet and you'd like one, they are half price. There are three or four Lamb Camp calendars left, too.  First come, first serve.

There WILL be a Yarn Along post (with a surprising book recommendation!) coming later today.  I hope.  Stay on me if you don't see it.

Enjoy the sunshine!

My favorite part of the video is the sheep bouncing away from Kate. I'm so glad that you are enjoying a mild sunny day.

opposite of herding with a dog.....leading with a cat!

So, dogs can herd sheep....and sheep can herd cats. Apparently it's not even that hard to herd cats, if you're a sheep. :-)

The new girls are so pretty, and I too love that sproing away from Kate.

Well, I know you already know which part is my favorite. Tilly HELPING. And ... wasn't that the neighbor's dog barking? Couldn't have been my Tilly :-) The cat sniffing is hilarious - have new sheep on the farm done that in the past?

Although I love Kate, my favourite part is that Betsy proves that every group needs a strong leader. Good job Betsy!

Fun video, and your cat is so pretty.

You can read Betsy's mind pretty clearly by the looks she tosses back at them as they follow her around. HA!

Border Collies are amazing! Did you train Kate? Betsy is such a fluffy Calico.

P.S. How do I purchase one of your calendars?

I don't have a funny caption, but I loved watching the video!

New info on Jacob sheep's resume. " cat herding". What fun flock of sheep.

Kate retired from Fetch Gate Farm in New York. She was trained by Heather Millen, who did an amazing job with her as proved by how well she takes care of me, a complete rookie. She's really got the new sheep working well. We can take them any where we need to go :-).

Just send me an email (thecrazysheepladyATgmailDOTcom) with your mailing address and I'll get a calendar out to your right away. I stick a return envelope and an invoice in with it and you can drop a check in the mail after you get it. Thanks!!!

Surely it wasn't that adorable, sweet Corgi... hahaha :-D

For some reason, lots of sheep here like to "sniff cats". These girls are especially fond if it and chased Betsy around the yard several times today :-D.

Retired? Wow! You'll have to do a blog post about that :D

I like the couple parts where Betsy springs away from the sheep, and then lets them catch her again. Jacobs are smaller like her lambs, does that help with making her forgiving towards them?

Do sheep sniff cats because they like the feline smell, because cats are predators (although rather too small to prey about anything larger than a newborn Ouessant lamb), or something undisclosed to humans? Betsy didn't seem to be amused.

That's a classic. If you speeded it up it would look like a Benny Hill bit where someone is being chased by a crowd. I can almost hear the music.... Kate is perfect! And Tilly is.....trying real hard. Yeah! Love the sproinging!

The whole of it is interesting. I wonder why the T girls want to sniff Betsy, had they never seen a cat before? I wonder what would happen if she laid down and just let them sniff to their hearts content. I admire Kate for jumping into action and Tillie 'helping'. It was a fun watch.

Betsy ~ Our Lead Cat =^•^=
You caught it well ~ Sheep curiosity under contol with cheers from the sideline :-) Great video!

Love the part with Betsy...she allows the sheepses to sniff her and leads them on a merry chase. All those Jacobs! These seem to be more tractable than some and they have such sweet faces.

What an great video! I had a running dialogue in my head of Betsy saying. . . "C'mon, new sheep. . . . just follow me. . . .(yeah, to the gate and out you go!)" I could watch Kate all day; she is amazing! And to think she does all that because she knows it's her job; I am endlessly fascinated by that relationship. So glad you're having warmer weather!
